PAZEER, YAZEED and ABHA win Guineas

The Abdulatif Hussain Al Emadi-owned PAZEER (Siyouni x Parandeh) stayed true to his top rating winning the last race on the card handsomely for trainer Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki. Eduardo Pedroza, who has ridden 3yo to all his victories except one, helmed the colt to a comfortable three and a half-length victory. Pazeer’s pace in the final furlong was too much to handle for the rest of the field. The Mohammed Jassim Ghazali Jahromi-saddled BURRISHOOLE ABBEY (Acclamation x Xeralda), who was jockey Faleh Bughanaim’s sixth top three finish on the day, edged out the Ahmed Mohamad Kobeissi-trained NOTALOT (Sir Prancealot x Hapipi) for the runner-up spot under Tomas Lukasek.

Umm Qarn’s YAZEED (Munjiz x Al Dahma) won the second straight duel with H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s EBRAZ (Amer x Massamarie) in the penultimate race of the day. Stephen Ladjadj rode Yazeed for Alban Elie Marie de Mieulle, tracking early leader AJS GANNAS (AF AlBahar x Karreema) on the rails while Theo Bachelot had stayed on the outside not too far behind. A furlong out, Yazeed and

the Julian Colin Smart-trained Ebraz surged forward leaving the rivals behind, but Yazeed always held a slight advantage, eventually finishing a quarter of a length ahead of the H.H. The Emir’s Sword (Gr1 PA) winner while Lukasek guided AJS Gannas to third.

After finishing third over the same course and distance under Tomas Lukasek two weeks ago in the Oaks Trial, the Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani-saddled ABHA (Canford Cliffs x Kalleidoscope) was back in the winners’ enclosure with a win for the second time this season. In the mile-long run, Lukasek guided Al Jeryan Stud’s 3yo filly to a comfortable victory ahead of Zuhair Mohsen Zuair Maki’s SAAR (Footstepsinthesand x Carahill), leaving behind Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani’s other ward, AL LUSAIL (Footstepsinthesand x Gooey), in third three and a half lengths behind. It was Saar’s second straight runner-up finish this season, and third straight in the frame.

Zakhir Stud’s ZAMEER (Dahess x Djurdjura) edged out Umm Qarn’s top-rated runner in the field TM THUNDER STRUCK (Majd al Arab x Bonnett) at the post for his fifth career win. In the mile long race, Al Jeryan Stud’s AJS ANFOWAN (Amer x Svetlana) set the pace early on under Tomas Lukasek, but the 6yo weakened going into the final two furlongs, as Alban de Miuelle saddled TM Thunder Struck made a run under Jean Baptiste Hamel on the outside, and Marc Lerner had Zameer squeeze past AJS Anfowan on the inside. The two were eventually separated by a short head, while AJS Anfowan finished third.

A month’s rest after shedding his maiden status did well for RAQEE (Mared Al Sahra x Cath) as Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi’s charge won the mile long run in a thrilling finish. The Julian Colin Smart-saddled Arghad went up front early on with Al Shaqab Racing’s AL DAWOODEA (Nizam x Marido), ridden by Faleh Bughanaim, and Raqee, with Marc Lerner astride, close behind on the outside. Coming off the final bend, the Hossain Mohammad Ashour-trained Al Dawoodea and Raqee surged forward to turn it into a duel, which was eventually settled by a nose. Marvin Suerland guided YATZAKHAN (Mared Al Sahra x Cantal Du Brieu) to third.

Abdulaziz Saleh Al Jaber’s ROCKIN FELLA (Society Rock x Dearest Daisy) made a winning debut in Qatar with a close win in the second of the two six furlong sprints. Eduardo Pedroza rode the Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani-schooled colt to victory ahead of BLACK ORANGE (Pastoral Pursuits x Mrs Snaffles), who gave Deborah Amanda Clare Mountain her third straight top three finish of the day under Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim. Carlo Fiocchi guided SHAWWAL (Harbour Watch x Orton Park) to the podium on his Qatar debut for trainer Stefano Ibido.

Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s VONA (Dark Angel x Trading Places) also made a winning debut in Qatar topping the six-furlong sprint on Thursday. In the second race of the day, Champion jockey Harry Bentley was astride the filly, saddled by champion trainer Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi, as the duo beat the Deborah Amanda Clare Mountain-trained CATCH A WAVE (Approve x Casablanca Jewel), ridden by Faleh Bughanaim, by a length, while the Mohammed Jassim Ghazali Jahromi-schooled SCUDDING (Mizzen Mast x Pearl In Sand) stayed in the frame for the second straight race, having won her campaign opener two weeks ago.

After shedding his maiden status on his last outing last season, the Yousef Ben Taher Mehaoued-trained MONTASER (Domestic Fund x My Sweet Natalie) was back in the winners’ enclosure at QREC on Thursday. Montaser stepped up well having won a six-furlong run in May before notching the miler on Thursday. Gerald Avranche helmed the 5yo to a fine win over the Stefano Ibido-trained SHATIR BU THAILA (Kheleyf x Dualite), who finished a length and three quarters behind the winner under Theo Bachelot, even as the Deborah Amanda Clare Mountain-saddled ZUZI (Dutch Art x Wedding List) was third with Faleh Bughanaim astride.
