Mohanad Jassim Al Yaqout’s M.J LATTAM sprints to Club Cup victory

Mohanad Jassim Al Yaqout’s M.J LATTAM (AF AlBahar x Menwat Al Jazeera) had never finished outside the frame over the C&D and that run continued with a thrilling win in the six furlong feature on dirt on Wednesday. Ridden by Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim, the 5yo was Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani’s third winner

on the day. This was the colt’s fourth C&D victory this season, and second straight win having won the Fuweiret Cup last month. Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi’s RASSAN (Amer x Sandytiki) too continued his run of in-frame finishes this season with a runner up spot under Marc Lerner, while Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi’s RAQEE (Mared Al Sahra x Cath) completed the top three under Gerald Avranche.

PUREBRED ARABIAN CONDITIONS

Al Jeryan Stud’s AJS AL RAYYAN (Amer x Mangaline Du Loup) had shown intent over C&D earlier this season with two in-frame finishes. On In the penultimate race of the day, Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani’s charge registered a thrilling victory over the 1700m run on dirt, with Tomas Lukasek at the helm. The win was second on the day for both the trainer and the jockey. The 7yo had won a 2000m run on turf in December, and the win on Wednesday made it his second win this season. Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi trained CARAB (Majd Al Arab x Cassels Celeste), with JP Guillambert in the saddle, had to settle for the second spot by a short head, while Mohanad Jassim Al Yaqout schooled AL AFREET (Amer x Aziza D’Aroco), ridden by Saleem Golam, was third for the second straight run.

THOROUGHBRED CONDITIONS (Class 2)

Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s OPERA BARON (Equiano x Opera Dancer) was third winner on the day for Champion Trainer Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi. The 5yo had two straight victories last month before slumping to 12th position in a Grade 1 run earlier this month. However in the 1900m run on Wednesday, JP Guillambert registered his second win on the day, guiding the gelding to a one and a half length victory over Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani schooled KARRAAR (Dubawi x Maghya), ridden by Tomas Lukasek. Saleem Golam helmed Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki schooled JEWEL HOUSE (Dubawi x Arizona Jewel) to third place finish.

THOROUGHBRED CONDITIONS (Class 2)

Injaaz Stud’s IZZTHATRIGHT (Moss Vale x Miss Adelaide) registered his sixth win this season as Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi’s ward enhanced his strike rate. The gelding, who had lost only once this season, a close second in February, showed some superb turn of foot with Marc Lerner in the saddle, beating the competition with 5 lengths to spare. Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki trained SHOBROM (Acclamation x Strasbourg Place), helmed by Tadgh O’Shea, did enough at the line, edging out JP Guillambert ridden MY SHARONA (Dark Angel x Tanda Tula) by a head, to prevent a one-two for the winning owner and trainer.

THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 4) (80 & below)

After eight in-frame efforts this season, Dhafi Rashid Al Marri’s SUCCEED AND EXCEL (Exceed and Excel x Woodbeck) registered his first victory this season under a confident ride by Jean Baptiste Hamel. Mohamed Hussain Afroz’s ward had last won in January 2017. On Wednesday, in the 2000m run, the 7yo registered a comfortable win four lengths ahead of Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi’s SACRED WAY (Oasis Dream x Heronetta), ridden by Marc Lerner, while Gerald Avranche helmed Hossin Mohammad Ashour trained DHEBAN (Exceed and Excel x Comeback Queen) to a third place finish.

THOROUGHBRED NOVICE PLATE (Class 6)

Almost a month after shedding his maiden status over a mile, Mohammed Bin Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah’s RANDOM DECISION (Exceed an Excel x Connote) was back in the winner’s enclosure on Wednesday. Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani’s ward had been midfield over a longer trip last time out earlier this month, but a drop in distance to six furlongs seemed to have done well for the gelding, who was ridden to a comfortable victory by Tomas Lukasek. The 3yo finished two lengths and three quarters aheda of Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi trained DAIRA BRIDGE (Dream Aheda x Lady Livius), helmed by Marc Lerner, while Ahmed Mohamad Kobeissi schooled BEACH SAMBA (Lope De Verga x Braziliz) completed the top three under Carlo Fiocchi.

LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE (Div 2) (5&6yo)

Two Qatari riders locked the top two spots in the six furlong sprint with Ali Khalid Al Mosallam riding Rashid Mohd Al Mosallam’s FAZAN (Nizam x Ultafa Al Maury) to his first career victory. Bader Al Balushi’s ward had finished in the frame four times out of his 10 attempts this season coming into Wednesday’s race. With Al Mosallam astride, the 5yo raced to an impressive victory going past the post a little more than four lengths ahead of Faleh Bughanaim ridden FANANN (Nizam x Huran ASF), trained by Mohammed Hussain Afroz. Mohammed Riyaz Ibrahim Kasim’s SHAZA AL SULAIMI (Kalbarq x Qamar Al Hana) was third under Tadgh O’Shea.

LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE (Div 1) (3&4yo)

Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s MUNAAWASHAT (Amer x Nour Al Denya) led a one-two for the owner and trainer Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi in the six furlong sprint, registering her first career victory in the process. The 4yo was runner-up twice over C&D last month, but had found it tough over longer distance last time round. However the filly bounced back with an impressive run on the home straight under JP Guillambert as she went past the line with over 13 lengths to spare. Stablemate LEGTAIFIYA (Mahabb x Lyvia) was ridden to runner up spot by Marc Lerner, while Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim guided Umm Qarn’s ANEEQ (Majd Al Arab x Zalzalah) to the colt’s second straight third place finish.

LOCAL THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (4-6yo)

Mohamed Abdulla Abdulmalik’s MISTER MAHJOOB (Abide With Me x She’s Ok) running his longest distance so far at 1800m shed his maiden status in Wednesday’s opening run. Ridden by Saleem Golam for Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki, the 4yo had some promising efforts in the last two races finishing fourth and second over a mile on turf. On dirt on Wednesday, the colt eased to a victory with Alanoud Khalifa Al Malki trained SHATIR BU THAILA (Kheleyf x Dualite) finishing second under Stephan Ladjadj, while Salem Fadgham Al Hajri schooled INDIFA (Redolent x Falta), with Adnan Hawa in the saddle, third.
