Injaaz Stud’s BLACK GRANITE takes Al Mamoura Cup victory

Injaaz Stud’s BLACK GRANITE (Dark Angel x Glisten) bounced back from an eighth place finish last time round in a Group 2 event with a comfortable win in the seven furlong turf feature at the QREC on Thursday. The 6yo, however, did have a C&D victory in February under his belt, and the gelding did enough along with jockey Marc Lerner to give Champion Trainer Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi his third victory on the day. The Irish bred horse went past the line two lengths

and a quarter ahead of Yousef Ben Taher Mehaoued trained AL MOHALHAL (Acclamation x Secret Question), with Jean Baptiste Hamel astride, for the win, while Saleem Golam rode Ahmed Mohamad Kobeissi’s ward, NOTALOT (Sir Prancealot x Hapipi), to a third place finish.

JP Guillambert’s third winner on the day was Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi schooled SPAGHETTI (Snoopi x Nouillaugratin). The 6yo had gotten back on the scoresheet over 2200m in March before a midfield finish in Qatar Gold Sword last time round. On Thursday, the Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari owned horse won the mile long run comfortably, beating the competition with two lengths to spare. Tadgh O’Shea was in the saddle guiding Ahmed Mohamad Kobeissi trained ALMUHEET (AF Albahar x Maboud) to a second place finish, while Mohammed Hussain Afroz trained QASSY (Mared Al Sahra x The Write Stuff) completed the top three udner Jean Baptiste Hamel.

Yousef Ben Taher Mehaoued trained MONTASER (Domestic Fund x My Sweet Natalie) registered his second straight C&D victory when Jean Baptiste Hamel guided the gelding to a win in the seven furlong run. Ali Bin Saeed Aljafali Al Nuaimi’s 6yo had opened the season with a handicap victory over a mile in December before a win in the penultimate race a little more than a month ago. On Thursday, Jean Baptiste Hamel rode the gelding to a comfortable two length victory, even as Marvin Suerland’s ride earned Zuhair Mohsen Zuhair Maki trained SAAR (Footstepsinthesand x Carahill) a second place finish ahead of Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani schooled ABHA (Canford Cliffs x Kalleidoscope), ridden by Tomas Lukasek.

Sheail Bin Khalifa Al Kuwari’s DOMFRONT (Royal Applause x Debuetantin) made a winning debut in Qatar topping the 2200m run with ease. The colt had finished twice in the frame in France before making the trip to the stables of Mubarak Mohd Al Khayareen. On Thursday, he proved the 4yo proved he had not missed a step since his move, with JP Guillambert guiding the colt to a three length victory, holding off a duo trained by Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki. Saleem Golam was astride JEWEL HOUSE (Dubawi x Arizona Jewel), while Marc Lerner was in the saddle for PERFECT STORM (Excelebration x Lady Miletrian) as the two horses finished second and third respectively.

HYDROXIDE’s (Lope De Vega x Craighall) consistency this season paid off for the third time as Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s gelding notched up his third victory this season. Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi’s charge had only finished once outside the top three this entire season, including two victories. That record stayed intact as JP Guillambert helmed the 4yo to a fine victory in the six furlong sprint. Hydroxide finished half a length ahead of Osama Omer Al Dafea’s ward, HARRY’S DANCER (Kodiac x Dance On), ridden by Marc Lerner, while Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim helmed Ahmed Mohamad Kobeissi trained BEACH SAMBA (Lope de Verga x Braziliz) to a third place finish.

THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 4) (85 & below)

Mohamed Rashid Seif Al Kuwari schooled DARK LIGHT (Dark Angel x Spring View) had done nothing creditable this season, including a 11th place finish over C&D in January. On Thursday, that changed when Stephan Ladjadj rode the Rashid Khamis Saif Al Kuwari owned gelding to a thrilling victory, holding off a charge from Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi trained trio at the line in a blanket finish. Dark Light edged out Marc Lerner ridden YAARMEN (Nayef x Haamaat) by a neck, while Tadgh O’Shea guided MOAMAR (Sepoy x Palitana) to a close third. Perigee, with JP Guillambert astride, was third ward from the stables of the Champion Trainer in toe.

Al Shahania Stud’s E’ZAAZ (Amer x Naama ASF) build on a string of solid performances this year to shed his maiden status on his 10th career outing. Barring two races, Pierre Jehan Andre Deymonaz’s ward had always finished in the top three. On Thursday, under Stephan Ladjadj for the first time, the 5yo beat Hamad Ahmed Al Malki Al Jehani trained AMIR DE MONLAU (Munjiz x Manzana), with Marvin Suerland in the saddle, by three quarters of a length for the victory. Bader Al Balushi trained FAZAN (Nizam x Ultafa Al Maury) was a distant third under Abdul Aziz Al Balushi.

Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani’s ward LATAMAH (Pivotal x Poseidon’s Bride) went one better than her last outing to shed her maiden status on her third career outing on Thursday. Tomas Lukasek had guided the 3yo to a C&D runner up two weeks ago. On Thursday, Lukasek was in the saddle once again and this time Mohammed Bin Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah’s horse picked up a fine win over a mile, winning with a length and a quarter to spare. JP Guillambert helmed Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi trained MUSSAFFAH (Kodiac x Look At Lulu) to a close second, edging out Deborah Amanda Clare Mountain saddled IBN ELMALIK (King of Westphalia x Metroland), with Rashid Ali Al Marri astride, by a quarter of a length.
