ANIMA ROCK sprints to Muaither Cup win

Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s ANIMA ROCK (Shamalgan x Carnet De Bal) led a one-two for champion trainer Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi in the MUAITHER CUP (THOROUGHBREDS) sprint, Saturday’s feature on turf at the Al Rayyan Park. The colt, ridden by Theo Bachelot, was the second winner on the day for the trainer, and second straight for the 4yo, besides having won his season opener in November. for his second place under Harry Bentley. Stephan Ladjadj guided Abdulaziz Ali Al Kathiri schooled CRISTOFANO ALLORI (Shamardal x Perfect Touch) to a third place finish.

In the final race of the card, THOROUGHBRED CLAIMING RACE (Class 4), Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani trained ON THE FRONT LINE (War Front x Aristocratic Lady) bounced back from a forgettable finish on his last outing to register his second victory this season. Ridden by Faleh Bughanaim in the colours of Nasser Owaida Salem Al Hajri, the 6yo won by a length.

Switching to handicaps worked well for Patrice Alexandre Nicolet’s PRINCE AMER (Amer x Amindala Princess) as the colt emerged as the fourth winner on the day for trainer Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle. With Ronan Thomas in the saddle, the 5yo led a one-two for the trainer, when he beat Mathieu Pelletan ridden Diese by three lengths at the post in the mile long PUREBRED ARABIAN HANDICAP (95 & below).

Umm Qarn’s SEHAB (Nizam x Kachia) was the third winner on the day for trainer Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle and second for jockey Ronan Thomas. Thomas had ridden the colt in the last outing too, with the duo finishing second then before going one better on Saturday in the PUREBRED ARABIAN GRADUATION PLATE. It was the 6yo’s second victory thi season having won a miler in November.

Umm Qarn’s DABAAB (Munjiz x Haifaa) went one better than her last outing to shed her maiden status at her sixth attempt. Mathieu Pelletan had helmed the 5yo on her Qatar debut earlier this month, finishing second on dirt. The jockey returned to partner the filly, this time switching to turf, and the two won by a little more than a length on Saturday.

Sheikh Ghanem Bin Jassim Al Thani’s BLACK FEAR (Dream Ahead x Sidtenga) had finished no better than seventh coming into Saturday’s LOCAL THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (Div 2) event. Switching to turf for the first time, Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki’s ward was ridden by Eduardo Pedroza in the seven furlong race and emerged victorious by a length and a quarter at the post.

Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani schooled SHARHAN AZZAM (Dixie Music x Sandicliffe) halted a run of four runner up finishes this season to register his first career win on Saturday. Owned by Nasser Owaida Salem Al Hajri, the 5yo was helmed by Tomas Lukasek in the LOCAL THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (Div 1), and the colt brushed aside disappointments of 19 previous attempts to win by a length and a quarter at the post.

In a smashing debut, Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle trained BAAHIR (Atlantic Air x Firdous) had little trouble topping the six furlong LOCAL THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (3 Year Olds) sprint on Saturday. With Ronan Thomas in the saddle, the Patrice Alexandre Nicolet owned colt won by a whopping eight lengths to shed his maiden status.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s AL WANNAH (Burning Sand x Massroura) bounced back from a forgettable finish on debut last month with her maiden victory. Ridden by Ryan Curatolo for trainer Julian Colin Smart in the 1850m LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE (Fillies & Mares), the filly went past the post comfortably with two lengths and quarter to spare.

Running C&D in the six furlong THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (3 Year Olds) (Class 6), the Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi trained gelding registered his first career win with champion jockey Harry Bentley in the saddle.
