Ambassador Yousef Al Khater: Considerable Qatari attention to Qatar Goodwood Festival

Qatar’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Yousef bin Ali Al Khater, hailed the strong relations between Qatar and the United Kingdom in various fields. “A few days ago, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani paid an official visit to the United Kingdom”, said His Excellency the Ambassador while present at the Qatar Goodwood Festival, “The visit was very fruitful and during which the depth of the ties between the two countries was stressed and a number of agreements were signed for the interests of the two countries.”

“Qatar Goodwood Festival has become a hallmark in the United Kingdom. I consider it the second event in horseracing here after Royal Ascot. Qatar’s sponsorship of the Festival started four years ago and has added more momentum to the event on all levels. Therefore, Significant benefits are gained from the Festival every year, especially as it enhances the presence of Qatar’s equestrian sport in such world-class gatherings. It also reflects the attention and support received from the senior officials in Qatar as demonstrated by the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee, during the first two days of the Festival,” added His Excellency the Ambassador Yousef bin Ali Al Khater.

Speaking about the strong partnership between Qatar and the UK, His Excellency the Ambassador said, “No doubt there are a strong relation and strategic cooperation, contributing to enhancing the collaboration between the two countries in various fields, not only on the equestrian level. There is close cooperation between the two countries in relation to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. As far as the Qatar Goodwood Festival is concerned, the Embassy of Qatar is working towards fulfilling its role, but the major role is met by the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club in Qatar through their communication with the Goodwood officials. All efforts are eventually dedicated to the interests of Qatar, which is a matter we always look forward to.”
