AL RUWAIS CUP features fourth race meeting

The card shows nine horses will line up for Wednesday’s feature, the Al Ruwais Cup, a 1900m handicap race for Purebred Arabians. Barring two, all others have already made their starts to the season, and some with even a win.

While Ahmed Kobeissi’s QAA’ED (Amer x TM La Belle Proper) narrowly lost out to Kasser in the first meeting two weeks ago, Ibrahim Al Malki trained AL MUNTATHAR (AF AlBahar x Intifadah) opened his career with a win for Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Bin Thani Al Thani, and AL YEM (AF Albahar x Mahboobah ASF), saddled by Jassim Ghazali, was one of five winners for the champion trainer a week ago.

Qaa’ed has two victories to his name over the course and distance, including one in April this year.

Osama Omar Al Dhafea’s RODIN (Dahess x Rossignol) too had shown quality making it to the frame behind Qaa’ed and Kasser.

Al Malki also has SUHAIL AL URAIQ (Majd Al Arab x Shamekha) in the field, while Mansoor Mesfer Al Hajri’s HADDAJ DUKHAN (Majd Al Arab x Gantra El Baraka) and Zuhair Mohsen’s KHATTAB (Amer x Basilic D'Elios) will look to make progress from their places finish on the season-opener.

Rashid Mohammed Al Jehani schooled STAM AL NAIF (Djelmidor x Hadab Al Naif( and Julian Smart’s ward MOHSSN (Almas x Nisaee) will line up for the first time at the QREC dirt track since April 2017.

The fourth race meeting will start with three maiden races, including one for Arabian fillies and mares, one for Thoroughbreds, and the third for Arabians.

Four Handicap races, two for Thoroughbreds, one for local Thoroughbreds and one for Purebred Arabians complete the eight race card.
